Sedgley Park great Matt Riley has been recognised for his contribution to the game by the Rugby Union Writers’ Club.

Riley announced he would be retiring from rugby following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, and he still holds the record for most appearances for a single club in either England or France in the pro era.

His dedication and tireless commitment to The Tigers throughout his 457 appearances for the National One outfit were recognised at the writers club’s annual lunch as Riley was named as one of their tankard winners, which marks extraordinary contributions to the game.

Congratulations from all of us at National League Rugby, Matt!
