The National Two East runners-up pushed Moseley all the way before the hosts secured their National One status with this tense victory.

Oundle, who beat Tynedale to reach this decider, struck first through Harry Morley after a powerful opening from the visitors’ pack, which has been a major weapon throughout the campaign.

Moseley responded through Ben Pogson before Austin Nevitt crossed following slick work from the home side.

Tevita Vaenuku hit back for Oundle to keep the contest finely balanced, but Morgan Dawes’ score gave Moseley a 19-12 advantage at the break.

The only points of the second half came from the boot of Oundle’s Ben Young as the visitors tried to build pressure.

But Moseley held firm in a nervy second 40 to preserve their place in National One.
